Alexander graduated from Duke University with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. After obtaining his PhD in microbiology and immunology from Duke University Medical School he did his postdoctoral training in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Department of Genetics at Duke University with Joseph. R. Nevins. Following a series of faculty appointments at Duke, Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School he returned home to Cleveland where he serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Genetics and Genome Sciences and Director of the CWRU Genomics Core.
